The California Academy of Mediation Professionals (CAMP)
is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality mediation services as an effective and efficient alternative to formal court proceedings for the resolution of disputes. Established in 1995, CAMP receives funding from the Los Angeles County Dispute Resolution Program Act. The California Academy
of Mediation Professionals offers
mediation services to Superior Court cases, to Small Claims Court cases, and to private cases.
MEDIATION
Mediation is a private, voluntary process that allows parties to settle their own disputes with the assistance of a neutral, trained third party—a mediator. The mediator assists in the identification of issues, generates options, and facilitates a mutually acceptable agreement.
Mediation does not involve a decision by the mediator. Rather, the parties determine the outcome of the case. In order to encourage the free exchange of information, all mediation sessions are confidential. The mediated agreement is a contract that becomes a legally binding document signed by the parties and the mediator. The contract may be entered as evidence in court if the terms of the agreement are not fulfilled.
MEDIATION IS QUICK!
Mediation is a much quicker way to resolve disputes as it does not get bogged down by the crowded court system. Once parties agree to participate, a mediation can be scheduled as soon as possible.
MEDIATION IS FREE!
Funded by the Los Angeles County Dispute Resolution Program Act, the first three hours of mediation for small claims cases and court-mandated cases are free.
